The big dig out and snow ice cream treat!

Well today was the big dig out from a historic snow storm here in Maryland! Where we live we got about 30″ of snow on a 24 hour period.

We started early this morning digging out our vehicles and getting half of the driveway cleared. That’s all we could get cleared – enough to get the vehicles in and out of the driveway.

My son helped my husband and I before going to our neighbors down the road to help them dig out.

Our daughter enjoyed playing in the snow for a while.

Unfortunately I don’t have the energy to bake some banana bread as I’d hoped,  so we settled for snow ice cream.

Easy recipe: mix together 1 cup milk, 1/3 cup sugar, teaspoon vanilla and a dash of salt and pour over 8 cups fresh, clean snow. Mix and serve immediately. We added some Valentine’s themed sprinkles to ours!

This brings back childhood memories of snow days at home.
